Fred
Kaplan was born 4/23/1954 in Los Angeles
CA, came under the influence and mentoring
of Lloyd Glenn, the highly influential
pianist and A&R man. Kaplan has
been an active session and performing
artist, working with such artists
as William Clark, James Harman, Kim
Wilson, Phillip Walker and many others.
His “Signifying” (Blue
Collar) release demonstrates the uniqueness
an depth of his incredible talents. Kaplan’s long list of influences include
not only Glenn, but also Otis Spann, Big
Maceo, Charles Brown, Blind John Davis,
Sunnyland Slim and a host of other know
and obscure rural and urban Blues pianists,
as will as many classic Gospel and Jazz
pianists and musicians. He is the consummate
Blues pianist with few peers.
