BLUZ IN DA BLOOD RADIO
Welcome back, my friends! It’s time for another episode of The BluzNdaBlood Show! This is you bluesman and DJ Dave Harrison coming at you from the Star City of Virginia… Well, this show is a very special one! Ya know, The Mannish Boys are celebrating their 5 year anniversary and as a result, that’s gonna be the theme of this show! It’s the “Mannish Boys Blues, Celebrating 5 Years!” show!
Well, I started off the show with “Going Crazy Over TV” which was the very first track from the very first 2004 Mannish Boys CD called That Represent Man. We’ll be hearing tracks off of all of the Mannish Boys CDs! But I also have a special treat for you and have my buddy Randy Chortkoff (the Delta/Eclecto Groove CEO) with me on the show!
As a matter of fact, we’ve had so much fun and played so much music, I’ve had to split
the show in two! So you’ll be listening to Part 1 on today’s show! |

THE MANNISH BOYS - VIDEO FROM THE BLUES CRUSE
The Mannish Boys set sail for the Caribbean earlier this year for their maiden voyage on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. Armed with a new CD and a rejuvenated lineup, the band was ready to deliver the goods for an entire week’s worth of bluesin’ on the high seas. Also joining the Mannish Boys this year on the cruise were Delta/Eclecto Groove recording artists Mike Zito and Jason Ricci & New Blood. The seven day voyage set out from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the Caribbean from Janauary 23-30th and featured many of the biggest names in Blues including Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Johnny Winter, Duke Robillard and more.
Blues News Magazine just ran a three-page feature on The Mannish Boys coinciding with the release of their brand new CD “Shake For Me.” Randy Chortkoff was interviewed for the article and asked a range of questions regarding the concept of the band, their history, and the recording process of the new CD. Blues News is Germany’s premiere blues magazine and over the past 15 years has become the largest German-language Blues publication with distribution in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Luxemburg.

Candye Kane was just recently interviewed on KPBS in San Diego where she talked about her battle with cancer and her new CD "SuperHero".
Excerpt:
"San Diego blues singer Candye Kane has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Her latest CD is rising high on the national blues charts, she's nominated for a number of music awards, and Kane continues to make a remarkable recovery from pancreatic cancer. Last year, blues singer Candye Kane started to get stomach aches. At first, she blamed the junk food she was eating after late night concerts. But the stomach aches continued, and began to radiate to her back. After numerous trips to emergency rooms, Kane finally got the right diagnosis: pancreatic cancer. "Well, of course when you're told you have pancreatic cancer, you think you're a goner," Kane says. "I mean, I definitely thought my number was up, and that was it. And I actually said to my doctor, well, if it's my turn to go, I sure have had an amazing run."

Crown Point High School's Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Ronnie James Weber for being inducted into the Crown Point High School Alumni Hall of Fame for his Cultural Contributions in music!
Ronald "Ronnie James" Weber, Class of 1988, was inducted for the "C" of Culture. Ron has been a "Blues" bass player for many years, and has traveled the world with many different artists. Ron got his start here at CPHS where he participated in Choir, Drama. In fact one of Ron's fondest memories is of Drama Club. "Drama Club really brought out my creative side and built my confidence. I'm still the same 'drama-nerd' I was then. Funny thing is, so many people I meet and work with in the music business were 'drama-nerd,' too." Ron was also unable to attend due to his work schedule. Ron has worked with Delta Groove artists The Mannish Boys & Mitch Kashmar, as well as other artists like Jimmie Vaughn, Booker T. Jones, Muddy Waters, Little Charlie & The Nightcats and the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
