PHANTOM BLUES BAND "FOOTPRINTS" (Street Date: 11/20/07)

Last year the Phantom Blues Band stepped “Out of the Shadows” from behind their longtime employer and musical leader Taj Mahal to deliver their Delta Groove debut which Goldmine Magazine described as “…a horn swaddled, contemporary blues gumbo for your booty.” Critics and fans rejoiced as their CD was met with overflowing enthusiasm for its sheer quality and high caliber of musicianship.

Although individual members have remained in high demand (Mike Finnigan was recruited for Joe Cocker’s recent tour, Denny Freeman is now employed by Bob Dylan, and Johnny Lee Schell, Joe Sublett, Darrell Leonard and Tony Braunagel have been playing dates with the Blues Brothers featuring Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi), the band still found the time to come together in the studio and cook up another ispired and soulful recording. The resulting effort is an all new platter that serves up a savory and zesty blend of Gospel, R&B, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Jazz and Blues.

With a proven track record that includes two Grammys and a W.C. Handy Award for their previous work with Taj Mahal, as well as countless appearances by individual members on recordings and in concert with such heavyweight artists as Bonnie Raitt, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Andrew Tosh, Eric Burdon, Smokey Robinson, Buddy Guy and the Rolling Stones, you can expect the Phantom Blues Band to continue to follow in the “Footprints” of sleeping giants and leave their own impressions behind for the world to discover.

SPRING BREAK ’83 – THE MOVIE

Filming is already in progress for Spring Break ‘83in New Orleans - the next major motion picture release by Big Sky and Delta Groove Productions. Starring such memorable actors as John Goodman, Jamie Kennedy, Mars Callahan, Joe Pantoliano, Pee Wee Herman, Lee Majors, Downtown Julie Brown, Richard Portnow and Erik Estrada, the coming of age teen comedy will spoof the ‘80s in tribute to such classic lampooning comedies as Animal House,Porky’s, Revenge Of The Nerds, Airplane, and Police Academy.” Much like how legendary blues performers Stevie Ray Vaughan appeared in the 1987 film Back To The Beach or Robert Cray in the 1978 classic Animal House,” Eclecto Groove recording artists Ana Popovic and Zito were on hand to lend their talents as the “house band” in the film. In addition to their debut on the silver screen, both artists will have their music featured on the soundtrack during the movie, culminating in Randy Chortkoff’s vision of incorporating blues with major motion pictures to help stir a resurgence in blues music by exposing it to a brand new audience.

SEAN COSTELLO - We Can Get Together (FEBRUARY 2008)

Sean Costello got an early start on blues in life. Born in Philadelphia in 1979 and raised in Atlanta, GA, the primarily self-taught guitarist won the Beale Street Blues Society’s new talent award when he was only 14 years old. By the time he was 18, Sean had already released his debut album “Call The Cops,” in addition to contributing his already mature guitar style heard on Susan Tedeschi’s breakout album “Just Won’t Burn.” Widely recognized as a gifted and accomplished guitarist, it’s been three years since his last recording which then only offered a glimpse of Sean’s’ emerging abilities as a vocalist and songwriter. Now all of the elements come together to form a complete whole, balancing his blistering guitar work along with soulful, confident vocals and expertly crafted songs. For his Delta Groove debut, Sean Costello delivers one of his strongest efforts to date, which should finally help bring the attention of a much wider and appreciative audience that he so respectfully deserves.

RANDY CHORTKOFF (NOVEMBER 18th)
Harmonica / Vocals / Producer / CEO

Randy Chortkoff’s passion for music was instilled in him at an early age. His father, who was a dedicated jazz fan, used to invite Louis Armstrong and members of his band into his home for dinner which often resulted in spontaneous and informal jam sessions. Randy’s exposure to live blues came later in the ‘60s, as he frequented the now historic Ash Grove in Los Angeles, in addition to Bill Graham’s Fillmore Auditorium and Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco where he witnessed performances by Muddy Waters, Albert King, Freddy King and Jimmy Reed. By the early ‘80s, Randy had formed his own band and over the years began building relationships amongst the local music scene that included close friendships with Rod Piazza, Lester Butler, Debbie Davies and Alex Schultz. His first project as an independent record producer was Billy Boy Arnold’s highly acclaimed comeback release “Back Where I Belong,” which helped signal the path that would eventually lead him to the formation of Delta Groove Productions. These days Randy divides his time between performing with the Mannish Boys, running both the Eclecto and Delta Groove labels, as well as applying his considerable talents to financing and production for feature films where he ultimately hopes to combine his passion for blues with film to reach a much larger audience.

ZITO (NOVEMBER 19th)
Vocals / Guitar / Song Writer

Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, Zito was immersed in the gritty sounds of the south side that would unknowingly become the groundwork of his future in music. After receiving a Van Halen record for his birthday,Zito soon discovered his instrument of choice – the electric guitar. At the age of 19, Zito’s journey took off when he busted into the local St. Louis music scene, developing his sound and issuing his first independent release in 1996. Upon the release of his sophomore effort, his touring schedule eventually found him crisscrossing the country, as well as performing a regular dose of 6 nights a week in and around St. Louis when not on the road. With such a crazed schedule and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, drugs and alcohol subsequently took their effect on him. One night after a show, Walter Trout pulled Zito aside and explained to him that he had been down that path himself, and about the responsibility he had to the music and to the people to perform honestly and unaffected. After drifting around the country, Zito finally settled down in Southeast Texas and fell in love with his now wife, finding the love and support he needed to help him clean up and refocus on his career. With renewed vigor and a bevy of real world experiences to draw upon, Zito released two more albums before ultimately crossing paths in 2007 with Delta & Eclecto Groove CEO Randy Chortkoff. Recognizing his raw talent, Chortkoff whisked Zito into the studio along with the help of the “Dream Team” consisting of David Z. and Tony Braunagal, and a stellar assemblage of world class musicians resulting in Zito’s most fully realized and powerfully majestic effort to date.
