As the year draws to a close, label President Robert Fitzpatrick recounts our accomplishments and achievements over the last 12 months, while eagerly anticipating what the future has in store for Delta Groove in 2008.
"The holidays are upon us and we are looking forward to the New Year with excitement. We keep reading that the record business is in trouble and no one is buying CDs anymore, but you would never know that from the activities here at Delta Groove and Eclecto Groove. STILL MAKING HISTORY (REMIX):
With all the recent success happening for Ana Popovic and her latest release “Still Making History,” Eclecto Groove Records has decided to take a bold new step in the direction of marketing Ana and her music. A new recording session is currently planned for January with composer/producer Rudy “Mayru” Maya, to remix 8 songs from “Still Making History,” along with the addition of another two completely new songs to be added to the project. Maya’s background in the music industry has included producing tracks on the multi-platinum album “Music of the Sun” for Def Jam recording artist Rihanna, as well as production work with Capitol recording artist Javier, Sony recording artist Nikki Flores, an MTV/Bad Boy Records project “Making the Band,” in addition to scoring music for film and television commercials. Look for more announcements soon regarding the re-launching of “Still Making History” along with a brand new single in 2008.

Ana Popovic’s new CD “Still Making History” has continued to rise since it made its debut on the Billboard Blues Chart at #8 back in October. “Still Making History” finished out last month at the #4 spot for a second week in a row after climbing up from #7 in the middle of November. Ana is in good company sharing the charts with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Betty Lavette, Derek Trucks and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. “Still Making History” was originally selected by Billboard as a Top Heatseeker back in October where she quickly began her rise up the charts.

SPECIAL OFFER:
Jason Ricci & New Blood dropped by the Eclecto Groove offices last month while in town for their two performances at Cozy’s Bar & Grill in Sherman Oaks and Harvelle’s in Redondo Beach. While taking the grand tour of the new offices, we took advantage of the opportunity to have the boys sign several copies of their new CD. For a limited time, Eclecto Groove Records will make available autographed copies of “Rocket Number 9.” The CD is signed by all four members of the band – Jason Ricci, Shawn Starsky, Todd “Buck Weed” Edmunds and Ron Sutton and will be available during the month of December while supplies last.
CD RELEASE PARTY @ COZY’S:
Jason Ricci & New Blood celebrated the release of their brand new CD “Rocket Number 9” at Cozy’s Bar & Grill late last month on Friday, November 30th. With the venue located only minutes away from the offices of Delta & Eclecto Groove Records that meant the entire staff was on hand to help support and cheer the band on. The added pressure of performing in front of label CEO Randy Chortkoff and President Robert Fitzpatrick did not sway the band, as Ricci lead his boys through an explosive night of music featuring songs off “Rocket Number 9” along with other crowd favorites. Check out all the accompanying musical mayhem in these exclusive photos and videos!

THE DREAM TEAM:
Recording is now complete for the upcoming Eclecto Groove Records debut release “Today” by Zito, who entered the studio to lay down tracks last October. “The Dream Team,” organized by CEO Randy Chortkoff and President of Eclecto & Delta Groove Music Robert Fitzpatrick, features David Z (whose production credits include albums by Prince, Buddy Guy, Ana Popovic, Jonny Lang and Etta James), and Tony Braunagel (produced Eric Burdon’s most recent CD “Soul of a Man”). Zito’s natural talent was matched by a stellar assembly of world class musicians, thanks to Tony Branagel, that included bassist James “Hutch” Hutchinson (who has recorded on numerous projects including Bonnie Raitt, Roy Orbison, Joe Cocker, Willie Nelson, Boz Scaggs, Keb’ Mo’ and B.B. King), Keyboardist Benmont Tench (longtime pianist with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and highly sought-after session player who has appeared on recordings by Jackson Browne, Johnny Cash, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, U2, and the Rolling Stones to name just a few!), drummer Tony Braunagel (Taj Mahal, Eric Burdon, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt and Phantom Blues Band) and Michito Sanchez on percussion. A great deal of effort and emphasis was placed on really developing Zito’s songs and arrangements, resulting in a powerfully majestic and unashamedly personal work that reveals a truly gifted artist has officially arrived on the scene. Look for Zito’s worldwide release on Eclecto Groove Records in early 2008! |
