Curtis "Cholo" Lehmkuhl a Jauneno Indian of the Mission Indian Tribes was born in Orange California and has loved music ever since he can begin to remember starting with the ole Motown records to rock, to blues, to fusion and mo blues while hanging out at a record store called the Licorice Pizza where Cholo decided to teach himself drums and played in a short lived band called the Electric Lights. Then later on teaching hisself a lil harmonica too. In 1970 Cholo moved to Seattle and started working the music clubs and befriending many local & touring musicians including working for late Ron Holden and at another local club where he met George Benson, Tower of Power, Buddy Miles, Lil Bill Englehart and Big Joe Turner. In 1989 Cholo got real busy with the local blues scene and was Secretary of the Washington Blues Society then Pres for 4 yrs and then VP for 2 yrs all the while booking bands at Larry's Greenfront, The New Orleans Restaurant and the Central Saloon where he first booked and met Mr. Johnny Dyer. Cholo was bringing in bands like William Clarke (7 times), Fenton Robinson, Mark Hummel, Smokey Wilson, Frankie Lee, James Harmon, Duke Robillard, Jimmy Rogers, Johnny Dyer, Rick Holmstrom,Lidia Pense & Cold Blood and to many more to mention while also putting on a nationally recognized Cholo's Fat Blues Harp Blowoff during Pioneer Square's Fat Tuesday celebrations. Not sated with just booking nationals he started putting together gig showcasing the local blues talent abd while doing so he also got involved in booking traditonal/commercial blues acts into Seattle's Folklife Festival working with Paul DeBarros writing grants to bring in acts like Big Jay McNeely, John D. Holman, John 'So Blue' Westin and R.L. Burnside. Now while still doing all the above Cholo got hisself involved with the Winthrop R & B Festival for the next 12 yrs were he hired King Ernest & The Taidragger's of which Randy Chortkoff was playing harp. The next time Rand & Cholo met is when Cholo hired The Mannish Boys where they did the recording 'Live In Demand'. Cholo still looks after a few of the local musician alumni and books a few gigs for them. Cholo attends and has been involved in one way or another with most of the Washington State Festivals and even works the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival with Amanda Gresham's DME Boat Cruises and with the back-line company on all the stages and more recently had helped start the Seattle Blues For Food Festival get going now in its 4th yr and ran the stage last year for the Simi Valley Cajun/Creole Festivals first Blues Stage which consisted of the 5th Annual Delta Groove Revue.
