PHANTOM
BLUES BAND
"FOOTPRINTS"
Liner Notes by
Joe Sublett |
IN THE BEGINNING WE ALL JUST CAME TO PLAY, WE WERE MOVED BY THE SEXY AND SOMETIMES SANCTIFIED SOUNDS WE HEARD ON THE RADIO. FROM BORDER RADIO TO TERRITORIAL BANDS TO BLUES, JAZZ, R&B, CARIBBEAN AND ROCK AND ROLL RECORDS, WE DEVELOPED OUR CHOPS. IN THE END THE MUSIC IS WHAT MADE US STAY. PAINFUL TRAVEL, SEEDY MOTELS AND LOW PAYING GIGS SOMETIMES MADE US WANT TO QUIT, BUT WHEN THERE IS ONLY MUSIC...THERE IT IS. WHEN YOU DON’T HEAR WHAT YOU LOVE ON THE RADIO, YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE PEOPLE. SO, AS THE MAN SAID, PUT ON YOUR BLACK SLACKS AND COOL SHOES AND GET TO WORK. ‘ IN THE FOOTPRINTS OF SLEEPING GIANTS, BELONGING TO THE PAST, NEVER REACHING THE FINISH LINE, BUT MOVING THERE FAST, OUT OF THE SHADOWS AND INTO THE LIGHT, TRAVELING MANY ROADS, OUR JOURNEY NEVER ENDS, SEARCHING FOR THE SEEDS WE SOWED.’

RANDY CHORTKOFF (EXECUTIVE PRODUCER) THANKS:
As always the guys have turned in a stellar combination of old school nostalgic music that is necessary to keep the flame alive and burning. Some might say that Phantom’s music is dated and it might well be. However, old goats like myself will love it and the younger generation should know that what they are hearing is the roots of all American music. I want to thank everybody that participated in this recording especially my new friend and mentor John Porter for another amazing production. My recommendation to anyone who loves good soul-driven music is to go out and see the Phantom Blues Band performing live.
JOHN PORTER THANKS:
Ted Kornblum and Mackie, The Mackie Digital X Bus, Dar Lopez and Artist Relations, PMI Audio, IKMultimedia, and Mitch Marcoulier for keeping it all working. |
