An Evening at Trasimeno Lake: Live from the Heart of Italy
Exquisitely performed, technically right on the money and dripping with passion, the Ana Popovic Band was in great form that particular night. Actually, An Evening at Transimeno Lake is very typical of any night’s performance by the band. Ana and Company are renowned for giving 100% every time they take the stage. Play this performance in one of the world’s most beautiful locations and the result is breathtaking. The filming is flawless, managing to capture every move, catching the band as a whole rather than centering on Ana alone. This is by far one of the best performance videos I’ve ever seen. Filmed during their Blind For Love tour, this disc features over two hours of music plus over 30 minutes of bonus material, featuring an intimate interview and a couple of acoustic cuts from an afternoon session which highlights the beauty of the location as well as giving Ana an opportunity to showcase her skills alone and acoustic. The viewers also get a great look at the lake and some of the surrounding structure, Medieval Castle completed in 1247. This is a masterpiece compete with an eight piece band. Together they offer up a little something for everyone including blues, rock, jazz and funk. The band operates like a well-oiled machine, everyone doing his (or her) part. The result is something you will find yourself coming back to time after time. This one is well worth the money at any price, for lovers of music in general, not just Blues enthusiasts. From hard driving rocking pieces to slow, sultry ballads, the band leaves not stone unturned. Ana is proclaimed by some to be one of the world’s best guitarists. She is definitely among the greats and is certainly a great package deal… superb guitarist who can walk that thin line between technical perfection and raw emotional power, great songwriter and powerful vocalist. She is also a fantastic performer, reading her audience well and giving them what they want. This DVD will give you hours of listening and viewing pleasure. I recommend if highly, and for our readers who attended this year’s festival, it is a real treat. |
