ARTHUR ADAMS "STOMP THE FLOOR"
Source: Blue Suede News
Date: 01/2010

Writer: Marc Bristol

Arthur Adams has quite the resumé! He’s written songs for B.B. King (“Mean And Evil,” “Something Up My Sleeve”), Sam Cooke (“Truckload Of Loving”), and Quincy Jones (“Love And Peace”), played guitar on Bonnie Raitt’s Nick Of Time CD, Jerry Garcia’s Garcia and also with Johnny Guitar Watson, Dr. John and others, plus appearing in the film Town & Country with Warren Beatty and Goldie Hawn! And the online bio doesn’t even mention he played with Nina Simone, but that’s in the notes to the CD. The title tune is actually a Soul thing almost Disco, but after that it’s big band Blues like B.B King on “You Can’t Win For Losing.” There’s more Soul, and more B.B, King style Blues – “So Sweet” would be a description of Adams’ voice, especially on the Soul type songs. The horns (trumpet, 2 trombones) are just on 2 of the songs, and “You Got That Right” is a funky guitar instrumental (one of 3), very groovy! Best overall description of Arthur Adam’s new CD would be Soul/Blues, and I think anyone who’s into that sort of thing would find a whole lot to enjoy on it! He’s also recorded for Blue Thumb, Fantasy, Blind Pig and PMRC over the years since he began in the ‘60s. Adams is from Medon, Tennessee – 12 miles out of Jackson, so here’s a whole different side of the Jackson sound!
