ARTHUR ADAMS "STOMP THE FLOOR"
Source: MuzikReviews
Date: 12/2009

Writer: Keith “MuzikMan” Hannaleck

Arthur Adams may come as a surprise to some folks that enjoy the blues. He is not a household name like his idol B.B. King but you will soon find out that his talent rivals anyone that is playing the blues today.

Stomp The Floor is an excellent follow up to his last studio album released in 2004 titled Soul of the Blues. Adams has the perfect full bodied voice for the blues and his guitar playing is praiseworthy, complimenting his vocals entirely. Let it be known however that this artist is more varied in styles and presentation than a straight forward bluesman.

On three stand out instrumental tracks “You Got That Right”, “Around The Sun” and “Blues Roots”, Adams shines brightly on his six-string, making vocals unnecessary for you to get your groove on. What I noticed was how he sounded more like George Benson playing jazz influenced by the blues rather than the other way around, which is what I was anticipating but nevertheless found complete satisfaction with what he had to offer.

On the vocal tracks Adams is polished and heartfelt straight on through. His divergent and memorable style finds a comfort zone with the music instantaneously and in turn with anyone within ear shot. His style is warm and expressive…inviting you in and then the decision to stay and take in more goes without saying. This cat is real good at what he does and I have a feeling whatever genre he decides to explore with blues as a foundation that success would be imminent.

My favorite vocal tracks were and picks for singles are "Stomp The Floor”, “You Can't Win For Losing” and “Thrive On Your Vibe”. “Callin' Heaven” with its religious overtones could very well become a crossover hit on the gospel charts. I thought that one track really succeeded in showing how down to earth Arthur Adams is and that he is like all of us. Everyone needs to call on a higher power for help at times and this song sent the message clearly.

This is a highly recommended recording for blues and jazz enthusiasts young and old alike.
