Arthur Adams is one of the major figures of the Los Angeles blues scene for several years been. His debut "It's Private Tonight" released in 1972 gave shape to his already distinctive mild and its recognizable vocal style, which at times jazzy sounding guitar work which he has since been known.
He did include songs together with Jimmy Smith, Quincy Jones, Nina Simone, Bonnie Raitt and the Crusaders. Early nineties, he helped as BB King's rhythm guitar part in the recordings of 2 songs on his CD "There's Always One More Time" and BB King in return them to Arthur's "Back On Track" in 1999.
This new release, "Stomp The Floor" included on the prestigious Delta Groove label Chortkoff Randy brings him hope the big breakthrough. His distinctive blend of soulful Rhythm and Blues full of melodic guitar hooks, stylish arrangements and very appreciated, perfectly placed songs would indeed have to ensure that his name here can find a lot more resonance. We do not doubt this time. You have to admit, there is a Delta Groove act outside the top part of the blues done in recent years?
With a voice that both timbre reminiscent of Robert Cray as Bobby "Blue" Bland, he makes a strong statement with this CD. He has a very soft, muffled sounding voice that tends more to soul and gospel than blues. There were also his first guitar influences of the guitarist Howard Carroll of the gospel group The Dixie Hummingbirds, but now shows his guitar style clearly influenced by his former employer, BB King, who for years said as he worked as group leader in one of his clubs.
Another area where Arthur Adams in recent years with great success to the work, the film and television world, of course as a writer of film music and soundtracks for popular television series such as Hairspray, Bill Cosby Show, Town and Country, Ironside and many others .
Cooperation with Delta Groove came about when Arthur was asked to guest appearances with the main act of the label: The Mannish Boys. This led to participate in Mitch Kashmar's "Nickels And Dimes". So when Arthur went to Randy Chortkoff knock stating that he had new material for a CD, he was naturally received with open arms. An excellent CD "Stomp The Floor" is the result of this cooperation, soul blues of quality with a smooth, romantic sound, real late night blues, with highlights songs like the atmospheric "You Are Invited", the jazzy instrumental valve "Blue Roots" and our personal favorite "Thrive On Your Vibe"
Perhaps some will produce something to smoothly polished and the sound and find some soft, sometimes even to the seventies disco soul tending. We can not deny this, but this is typically Arthur Adams and of course a little nostalgia never hurts.
