THE HOLLYWOOD BLUE FLAMES "ROAD TO RIO"
Source: WVKR Radio

Hollywood Blue Flames/Hollywood Fats Band, Road to Rio / Larger than Life (Delta Groove). Two Discs that give two snapshots of a West Coast Blues Band, back in the day (circa 1979) and today. The earlier recordings, Larger than Life by the Hollywood Fats Band, were salvaged from cassettes that survived from festival and nightclub appearances when the bands' guitar-hero founder was still alive Mr. Fats' commentaries in Nasty Boogie Woogie (2) are crude but methe new disc, Gumbo Grinder (6) is an instrumental tribute to Professor Longhair, and 3rd Degree Burns (8) and Junior's Boogie Rocket (13), with Jr. Watson are also nice instrumentals. My favorite vocal tracks are Coffe Grindin' Man (3) amorable. Don't miss the the guest vocals by Eddi "Cleanhead" Vinson (5&6) and Roy Brown (10&11). On nd Sharpest Man in Town (12).
