Your
June/July issue included a review by Chip O’Brien
on the Hollywood Blue Flames’ Soul Sanctuary.
Ina positive review, O”Brien slipped by
not mentioning the legendary Larry Taylor as one
of this phenomenal band’s members.
The Hollywood Blue Flames are one of the purest
bands around. As O’Brien points out, they
do a fine job of keeping tradition alive on a
CD that will put any traditional blues lover in
heaven. I couldn’t agree more that “the
instrumental material steals the show,”
despite stellar performances by vocalist Al Blake,
who is also an outstanding lyricist and harp virtuoso.
When it comes to solid, deep, authentic, soulful
blues, this band does ti all. |
