Candye Kane: Superhero

Sassy powerhouse vocals backed by a tight combo with Laura Chavez on guitars, Paul Loranger on bass, and Evan Caleb on drums is what you will find on Superhero.  Having faced adversity throughout her life, she was recently confronted with pancreatic cancer which turned out to be a neuroendocrine tumor or GAP-NET (a 1-2% chance) that was successfully treated.  The support of friends and fans to help the uninsured performer with her medical bills helped Candye to keep fighting like the Superhero she is.

Candye can shout the blues, holler the blues, or sing it all so sweet as she does on “I Put A Hex On You.”  From the slow Texas shuffle of “I’m A Bad, Bad Girl” with vocals reminiscent of Becki Sue to the 40’s style sound of  “Picture Of You”, and “Ik Hou Van Je (I Love You)” could be a 40’s show tune.  There are plenty of good blues too like on the shuffle “I Like ‘Em Stacked Like That” to which label mates Mitch Kashmar and Kid Ramos add vocals and guitar respectively or “Till You Go Too Far” which again feature Mitch this time on harp and Kid Ramos on guitar with Candye singing the line “how do you know if you’ve gone far enough baby ‘til you’ve gone too far?  On “Who’s Been Sleeping In My Bed?”  Candye asks Mama Bear’s proverbial question common to blues songs.

Superhero is an outstanding release and is sure to get plenty of good press and airplay.
