We're back to our Blues label of the month of September and when it comes to keeping the West coast Blues tradition alive I can't think of a better record company than Delta Groove Records. C.E.O. Randy Chortkoff has done an amazing job in producing some of the amazing Blues talent be it veteran artists like Phillip Walker & Rod Piazza, or new talent like The Insomniacs & John Long.

       Randy Chortkoff started Delta Groove at a time when the Blues was at a low ebb and not many labels were taking a chance on Blues artists. But the Blues world is all the more richer becuase of the efforts of Mr. Chortkoff who has built an excellent stable of Blues talent over the years. The man has put his heart and soul into one of the most important Blues labels of the 21st century. Two fine examples of the old and new are the current Delta Groove releases we have in our rotation.

Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers latest effort Thrillville is a perfect example of West Coast meets Chicago with the Flyers stiring up a perfect blend of styles while Rods harp playing  sounds as good as ever, these guys just get better as they age! The other release by newcomers The Insomniacs called Left Coast Blues is a great debut of exciting styles and textures with fine musicianship throughout the disc, it is one of the best Blues releases of the year in my humble opinion and it's one of our most popular discs in our rotation. As always we tell you to catch these artists live when you can if they pass through your town.

           As for Delta Groove Records we hope that for many years to come they will be a beacon for the Blues genre for the left coast and beyond and don't forget their off shoot label Eclecto Groove Records which recently put out the excellent debut by Ana Popovic "Still Making History" release.
