Like almost every other band on this planet, Nashville-based Jason Ricci and New Blood say they put a Vulcan mind-meld on a number of genres, including blues, rock, funk, Eastern vibes, jazz and jam band grooves. But, with Ricci on harmonica and vocals, the lads actually walk the walk. The title track of their latest album, "Rocket Number 9," is a cover of a piece by psycho-jazz/space cadet/Afro-futurist Sun Ra.

Jason Ricci and New Blood will be in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Bank & Blues Club, 701 Main St., Daytona Beach. The Daytona Blues Society All-Stars open.
