Jason Ricci & New Blood is: Jason Ricci: vocals, harmonica and (ewwww) nose flute; Shawn Starsky: guitar; Todd "Buck Weed" Edmunds: bass, clarinet and "hells bells;" Ron Sutton: drums

Latest release: "Rocket Number 9"

Sounds like: a diverse mix of "gut bucket" blues, jazz and classic rock

Influenced by: Sun Ra, Little Walter, The Rolling Stones, Govt. Mule and Blues Traveler - Ricci's publicity team also sites the Pixies and Lou Reed but I can't hear either even remotely anywhere in this CD.

Ignore the hack critic, hear it for yourself: Visit www.jasonricci.com to hear tracks from the new CD.

Best bets: "The Rocker," "Loving Eyes" and "Deliver Us"

Why you should go: Ricci and Co. don't do 300 gigs a year for nothing. This is a highly energetic and entertaining group.

Why you shouldn't go: Two words: "nose flute"
