Happily
repeated playinLong is an acoustic bluesman from
St. Louis who was raised on R&B and blues
legends like Muddy Waters, Jimmy Lee and Lightnin'
Hopkins and schooled directly by Big Joe Williams
and blues harpist Doc Terry. On "Lost &
Found,"he applies the genuine, taproot sounds
of the Delta to 11 songs he wrote or co-wrote
with his brother, Claude. On a few tracks, co-producer
Fred Kaplan delivers some roadhouse piano. But
most of "Lost" is all Long on acoustic
and slide guitar, blues harp and vocals, aptly
reviving the sounds and
styles of giants like Waters, Elmore James and
Mississippi John Hurt.
