Bluesman Kirk Fletcher’s My Turn is incredible. The blues is interesting because it’s tough to be truly unique because of its popularity and simplicity. But Fletcher comes off not sound cliché at all. Every song on this album has that familiarity of the blues, but also a fresh new sound that will please any fan of the blues.
Along with making his vocal debut on this album, we also have the pleasure of experiencing Fletcher explore new territories both musically and instrumentally.
The second track “Found Love” has a great bluegrass feel which is a nice change from the other tracks.
“Way Back Home” is a groovy jam a la Marvin Gaye with Fletcher and his saxophone player sharing the melody until the sax takes us on a fun little ride pulling out all the stops before handing the solo over to Fletcher he demonstrates his ability to groove.
If you enjoy music, this is an album to listen to.
