L.A.?s Los Fabulocos in S.A. Sunday.

La Prensa de San Antonio.- Los Fabulocos are coming back to San Antonio Sunday, April 10th at the Southwest School of Art at 300 Agusta Street as part of the ?Fiesta Arts Fair? to present their latest album ?Dos,? appropriately titled since it?s their second album with Delta Groove Music. Singing in English and Spanish, Los Fabulocos are excited to provide great music that?s sure to get everyone jamming.

?We are very excited to perform in San Antonio. This is our fourth trip to Texas and it will be the first time to perform our newest album,? said Kid Ramos, the band?s guitarist, who incorporated the electric guitar, Spanish guitar, baritone guitar and the bajo sexto, a 12-stringed cross between a guitar and a bass into the album.

The band?s music is best described by Delta Groove President Rand Chortkoff, who feels the group?s sound is ?CaliMex,? a fusion of blues tunes with a strong Southern California groove. The music has a strong Mexican background intertwined-the accordion is featured in many songs.

Growing up in southern California, Los Fabulocos were exposed to a variety of musical background, resulting in their unique sound, heavily influenced by traditional Mexican sounds, blues, country and rock-and-roll.

?The record label calls Los Fabulocos? music Cali-Mex because that?s where we?re from, California, East L.A. People don?t realize how long East L.A. and Whittier Boulevard has been home to a special brand of music going back decades, you know Ritchie Valens, Thee Midnighters and, if I may say so, The Blazers,? Jesse (Jesus) Cuevas, founder and lead singer of Los Fabulocos told La Prensa.

On their first record, Los Fabulocos recreated old classics adding their own unique style, but decided to go to the next level for their new album and use original songs put together by the group.

?I?d put something down, maybe just a bit of melody, and then head over to Dave?s (Kid Ramos) place and he?d give me input. Then maybe we?d forget it and work on something else. Eventually, the rest of the guys would come in with their contributions and which resulted in a group effort,? said Cuevas.

?We are a party band. People can come Sunday and have a good time. People can definitely identify with our music because we sing about life, family and love. We?re hoping for everyone to come out, dance and enjoy a nice afternoon after a long day of work,? said Ramos.

The band began about four years ago with Cuevas, who is also the accordion player; drummer Mike Molin; bass player James Barrios and another guitarist who later left the group. It resulted in Cuevas inviting his friend Ramos-also known to play for the Mannish Boys and Fabulous Thunderbirds, to join the band after.

?I joined the band three years ago and it?s been a lot of fun. We are excited for San Antonio to hear our new album. Eight out of the twelve songs are original and it?s doing really well in Texas. We have fun working together and enjoy writing our own songs. Jesse wrote most of them and I wrote one of the songs,? said Ramos.

Los Fabulocos have had great success with their first album having toured all over the west and east coasts of the U.S. and Europe as well. With the release of ?Dos?, the band is excited to be touring again and hopes to travel back to Europe.
