The best of this music, polka, Mexican and even a touch of blues, is the original concept offered by Fabulocos with the release of their second album of simple name, Dos, which launches officially next Tuesday for all lovers music that reflects the Mexican-American culture, which emerged on the music scene of East LA.
"Our influences are varied: from norteno groups past and Los Alegres de Terán and The Lightning , to sets of Tejano as Flaco Jimenez and Valerio Longoria. And the music of Louisiana, R & B, soul and zydeco, which combine to We create what we identify as Chicanos, "said Jesse Cuevas , the vocalist and accordionist quartet made also by drummer Mike Molina , bassist James Barrios and guitarist Kid Ramos .
The Fabulocos started making music four years ago, when they released their first album called just The Fabulocos, recording covers of popular songs from both cultures, in fact, their first album consisted mostly of covers, but also included two compositions members who represent the same musical concept "Cali- Mex ", as he calls Chortkof Rand, president of the record company for which they recorded, Delta Groove Music.
"The 'Cali-Mex' is a variant of 'Tex-Mex with the strong influence of the musicians in Southern California , especially the Chicano rock movement, "says Jesse Cuevas.
"The record company includes us in the music label 'Cali-Mex', which I think many people do not give due prominence decades ago, from which emerged the likes of Ritchie Valens , Thee Midnighters and The Blazers , not to mention Los Lobos , who are a great influence on the music of Fabulocos "said Cuevas, who lives in the city of Whittier and raised in East LA, and Mexican parents who speak Spanish as their first language, like their children, unlike the other members who are all second generation.
The issues highlighted in this latest album is a pure and two with salt, which is a cover of a popular Mexican ranchera and soft boys, a song from respected musician Lalo Guerrero , who reflects in his lyrics to Chicano culture and in his music to the dance rhythms of Mexican music.
One theme is romance What's in my Heart. "I wrote this song along with five because this time included six new songs and six covers, some songs in Spanish and others in English. Do not try to balance the record, but we play what we like, what we are born either in one or another language, "said the experienced accordionist who has over ten years in the music and the interpretation of the instrument reveals that it has been heavily influenced by Ramón Ayala , known as the King of Accordion.
"Our style is natural, honest to what we are, to our roots. So when we recorded two, was so natural that we did in two days," said the group's founder.
