Fresh out of the studio recording their 3rd album for Delta Groove, “Lowdown Feeling”, released in June this year, The Mannish Boys are assembled from the cream of the crop of blues veterans and young bloods. They keep things interesting and fresh by presenting the “revue” style show that showcases the many talents of the assembled cast of 8 players.
When the Mannish Boys come to town, it’s a one band blues festival, featuring 3 of the blues top guitarists in Kid Ramos, Kirk “Eli” Fletcher, and Frank “Paris Slim” Goldwasser. Vocalists Finis Tasby (originally from Texas) and Bobby Jones (who enjoyed fame in the late ‘50’s in Chicago) each have a unique approach to their blues while harmonica player and band leader Randy Chortkoff keeps the stage humming. The rock solid rhythm section of Ronnie James Weber on bass and Richard Innes on drums hold it all down.
The band wowed the audience at our 2005 festival with a set that brought the house down to close our first sold out Saturday night. Fans figured Kid Ramos should be voted “MVGP” (most valuable guitar player) of the blues while Finis Tasby’s “smooth as melted chocolate” vocals and Randy Chortkoff’s harmonica playing proved to complement each other perfectly.
The Mannish Boys bring a wealth of blues experience, a whole lot of heart, and an incredible array of talent to the stage. |
