THE
MANNISH BOYS "LIVE & IN DEMAND"

The
Mannish Boys
is an incredible ensemble cast of great blues
musicians. David “Kid” Ramos is formerly
of the James Harmon Band and The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Leon Blue has played with the likes of BB, Albert
and Freddie King. The list goes on with Finis
Tasby, Johnny Dyer, Franck “Paris Slim”
Goldwasser, Tom Leavey, Richard Innes and the
irrepressible Randy Chortkoff blasting out great
blues. All of these fine performers have made
their bones, and one listen will confirm this.
I have been to blues festicals around the country
and listened to greats such as Buddy Guy, Mavis
Staples and Bobby Rush. Live music is hard to
bear, and this group could hold its own with any
of these important artists.
This
CD, “Live & In Demand” starts
out with a lively instrumental, “Kids’s
Jump,” that gets you into the blues grooves
to follow, including the Willie Dixon standard
“I’m Ready” and the great
hit “Mystery Train.” Also included
in this live set is the legendary song namesake
of the group “Mannish Boy.” There
is no slowing down as one song after another
gets your feet movin’ and your moneymakers
shakin’.
If
you are a blues fan, love the old standards,
and live music, this CD is just what you’re
looking for. You get to listen to talented musicians
playing great songs just for you. Recorded at
the Winthrop Rhythm & Blues Festival in
Washington, this live recording is clear and
gives you the feeling of being there. If you
have never been to a live blues festival or
you have, and wanted to listen again and again,
this will fit the bill. If it’s the blues
you want – it’s the blues you get! |
