MITCH KASHMAR "100 MILES TO GO"
Source: Blues News - Finland
Date: 10/2010
Writer: n/a

We really hadn't heard much from Mitch Kashmar until he released his debut album on Delta Groove Music's, Nickels & Dimes, which gave us the song Dirty Deal. Or is that really so? Not really. Mitch Kashmar was lead vocalist for The Pontiax in the early eighties when they recorded Gonna Find Someone New, which was one of the songs on their long-out-of-print al-bum, 100 Miles To Go. You may have the song on vinyl, Gary Gibson of Gutter Records out of Raleigh, North Carolina released the num-ber on a 45 in 1990. Delta Groove has now reissued the al-bum in tact and has added two new bonus tracks. Of the two new songs, check out Petroleum Blues. Of the older songs, you of course can't go wrong with Gonna Find Someone New, but there are other tracks on the album you need to take a listen to. Check out Night Creeper, My Kinda Woman and Walkin' Downtown, as well as the title track. If you are looking for a good instrumental, try Horn Of Plenty. Mitch is an accomplished harmonica player. Going back to even high school in his native Santa Barbara, California, he would borrow his brother's identification to get into the local clubs and play with the local bands. While taking a break from his solo career, Mitch signed on with the latest touring reincarnation of the classic funk-rock band, War. His tour was highlighted in April, 2008 when the touring company of War joined legendary British rocker Eric Burdon on stage in London for a reun-ion concert. Mitch Kashmar has come a long way since his youth in the beachside community in California, having been rec-ognized as a Blues Music Awards' nomi-nee in 2006 as Best New Artist Debut and following year Best Instrumentalist-Harmonica. You don't have to go very far to get Mitch Woods & The Pontiax' 100 Miles To Go on the Delta Groove label.
