THE INSOMNIACS "LEFT COAST BLUES"
Source: Radio Feedback
Writer: various

The Insomniacs - Left Coast Blues - JUMP and I said JUMP right from the start, as this band can play jump blues as good as anyone out there... Vyasa Dodson shows his guitar skills throughout this entire record and Dean Mueller thumps his way through a great debut record for Delta Groove... The band is driven by the sharp drumming of Dave Melvin and Alex Shakeri plays piano and keyboard, letting his skills show at the right moments... I went to see this band llive and they JUMP, Swing and Rock... great energy, talent and I am sure, great success... "Left Coast Blues" is full of great music from the opeining cut "Stick Around" to the last cut "No Wine, No Women"..If you want to hear the future of the blues, this band is a great one to see....

But, may I say, I have been unable to remove the CD by the Insomniacs from my car stereo and I blare it out along the country roads on the hour's drive out to ride the insaniac horse. From Insomniacs to the Insaniac, eh? Pretty cool.

I don't usually listen to a disc more than twice through (once to "proof" for un-airable words and once to hear decide what I think are the most playable and enjoyable cuts). I love all your artists but the Insomniacs have me enraptured at present!

The Insomniacs were just plain fun to listen to. I've always been a Rod Piazza fan, his latest just solidifys his place in harp history.

The Insomniacs - You gotta love the shuffles these guys lay down. More quality
music that we'll continue to play. Excellent listener response.

We did add the Insomniacs disc. This should prove to the blues purists that you don't have to be old, black, or dead to put out a solid blues recording.

Left Coast Blues / Delta Groove. Jumpin’ swingin’ blues from a young band out of Portland, Oregon. Guitarist and lead singer Vyasa Dodson’s voice isn’t quite up to the songs he writes, but the musicianship of the entire band is top-notch.

Oh btw…I love “The Insomniacs”.  That will be living in the rotation for quite some time….All of this great music from the West Coast, if we weren’t so busy trying to stay warm most of the time, we could start getting an inferiority complex.  ;-)

Rod Piazza’s fans should definitely check out The Insomniacs too. It’s hard to believe that their leader is only 25 as he is such a mature songwriter. Many guys twice his age couldn’t compete with him in writing songs that are as clever and interesting as his. Plus, he sings well and plays guitar with a lot of taste. I am always happy to discover young bands that are obviously into traditional stuff but can present them in their own, original way. This is the case with The Insomniac’s disc – “Left Coast Blues” sounds familiar but is exciting and fresh!

Great to hear some new music from you and as always it is unbelievably good. Could not resist anything on both of the cd,s. We received the copies yesterday from John Ward and allocated them straight away. Both have been played today to really good responses from the listeners. As you can see by this weeks tip-sheet the two release figure prominently in what is a very strong sheet. Thank-you for the great music and support to the station.

Wow again!  Thanks so much for sending "The Insomniacs'" cd, "Left Coast Blues" and Rod Piazza's "ThrillVille" (Both these cds will immediately be added to our "New Arrivals" list for our programmers for airplay.

Just a note to let you know I got Rod's CD & the Insomniacs. They came on a Friday & I had them on the air on Saturday. Great music, as I expected. I thought I would really miss Bill Stuve (one of my favorite bass players), but Honey's got it down. The Flyers are still one of the best bands in the land. Both these releases will get mucho airplay. Thanks again.

KASU received your package with Delta Groove’s new releases by Rod Piazza and the Insomniacs.  Both are fantastic, and I’m looking forward to featuring songs from those CDs on KASU’s radio programs.

I am very impressed with The Insomniacs - terrific swing blues with a hint of Little Charlie thrown in. Very talented young musicians!
