As the previous one ( “BIG PLANS” ) the “sepia” cover is fantastic. As all the three ones the song-list is particularly effective and plenty of very fine tunes for a great airplay. Yes, I have my favourite ones ( THESE KIND OF BLUES, LOWDOWN…, CHOCOLATE DROP, FINE LOOKIN’ WOMAN, YOU DON’T LOVE ME, SOMERTHING’S WRONG…), but all the program is so good indeed . Many thanks once more for this marvellous gift of music !

The Mannish Boys / Big Plans / Delta Groove. The Mannish Boys are a large and fluid group of primarily West Coast blues musicians with a keen appreciation for the history of the blues. This, their second studio effort, has a decidedly post-war Chicago flavor. Features many guests, including guitarist Jody Williams, harpist Mitch Kashmar and pianist Rob Rio (also on the line-up for the Greeley Blues Fest). My favorite tracks: 1, 4, 6, and 7.

.... After 'first' hearing, I must  to tell you ....it's really something amazing.  After Mannish's cd's: 'That Represant Man', extraordinary live cut 'Live & In Demand'  they gave us amazing deep traditional blues album 'Big Plans' with very special guests like : fantastic harp player Johnny Dyer, amazing guitarist Jody Williams, extraordinary Chicago blues singer Bobby Jones and the others...absolutely  fantastic crew.

Album 'Big Plans' it's one of 10 best albums I've  heard in last five years. EXCELLENT!!!

Some days ago I received the brand new MANNISH BOYS. BIG PLANS is very very good, perhaps better than the other two. Excellent new songs and covers very well arranged and performed : oh yeah, THE MANNISH BOYS are my favourite “SUPER-BLUES-BAND” ! And how many interesting guest musicians ! Certainly it will be very precious for my summer playlists.

Now let me express my comments about the music itself. With every new release The Mannish Boys keep the highest level of musicianship making "Big Plans" a killer CD from start to finish. You don't need guitar pyrotechnics to make a good blues album, a tight group of excellent but restricted musicians is just enough. Listening to one another gives much better results than showing off and The Mannish Boys members know that. They play the blues the way it was meant to be played. Plus, their special guests are like a cherry on a milkshake - Jody Williams and Bobby Jones are amazing. All in all, "Big Plans" deserves lot's of attention and some important end-of-the-year awards.

Just wanted to drop you a line on the new Mannish Boys release.  It was at the station when I went in today.  First listen through is impressive.  We played the opening track on air and next week I'll feature the album in a featured set (20 minutes or more).  I was blown away with the sound of the band and who is in the band!
