"On the subject of new venue experiences, I finally ventured out to Stinger's Bar & Nightclub in San Bernardino and caught a smokin' late-night set from I.E. blues institution Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers Blues Quartet.
I was impressed with the sound, large dance floor on the main stage and sight lines from various vantage points.
Patrons need to arrive early if they want to find a seat, though. A house band performed on a smaller stage in the pool-table room between sets.
Master harmonica player Piazza and his piano-pounding wife, Honey, did rousing songs from their latest effort "Thrillville" (Delta Groove Productions), notably
a hot covers medley of Little Walter's "Hate to See You Go" and Slim Harpo's "Shake Your Hips." |
